Save Glenfield Children’s Heart Unit Public Meeting
NHS England are now ‘consulting’ on their plan to end heart surgery at Glenfield
WE NEED YOU to fill in their online questionnaire. Otherwise they may claim that many people are not bothered about its closure!
But they haven’t made it easy to understand or fill in.
Come to our public meetings to find out how best to respond to the questionnaire.

NO CUTS TO CHILDREN’S HEART UNITS. INVEST IN OUR NHS
NHS England has announced that Glenfield Children’s Heart Unit may have to stop surgery on people born with heart problems. Two other units — the Royal Brompton and Harefield in London, and the Central Manchester — are also threatened with closure.
Glenfield saves lives and has “excellent outcomes”. What will happen if it closes?
We will lose skills which pioneered life-saving technology such as the ECMO unit, which allows patients, both adult and paediatric, to survive heart or lung failure.
The closure of Glenfield will have a knock on effect on many other services such as children’s intensive care and other children’s services.
NHS England deny this is about cuts, yet the arguments they do put forward are flawed. These proposals are being made at the same time that £22 billion in “efficiency savings” are demanded by the government.
